Mom, her two kids and female partner found killed in New York state

Police in a New York state city are investigating a murder after a mother was found dead with her female partner and her two children.

The murders took place in Troy, a city in upstate New York.

All four were bound and had their throats slashed.

Police report the bodies were found the day after Christmas by a property manager.

He had been asked to check on the welfare of the residents of the basement apartment.

The victims were a 36-year-old woman, her five-year-old daughter, her 11-year-old son and her 22-year-old girlfriend.

Their names are currently withheld while police contact their relatives.

A local pastor told Times Union the 36-year-old also has an older son who was not home at the time.

Police have said they do not believe anyone else was living in the apartment other than the victims.

Troy police Chief John Tedesco said at a news conference: ‘After being in this business for 42 years, I can’t describe the savagery of a person who would do this.’

He added that the police ‘do not believe this was a random act.’

The police hope autopsies will tell them when the murders happened.

They have not yet identified any suspects.

Local pastor Jackie Robinson Sr. said: ‘We’ll try as hard as we can to understand, even though there is no justification for it,’

His message to anyone involved in the murder is: ‘Give yourself up. How can you live with yourself doing something like this?’
