Openly lesbian Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon will be at the Shore Club in Miami Beach on Jan. 9 to help the American Civil Liberties Union of Florida kick off a campaign to end Florida’s ban on adoption by gays and lesbians.
Republican U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen also will attend.
The Florida ban is the only law in the country that categorically prohibits gay men and lesbians from adopting children, the ACLU said.
“This discriminatory law hurts thousands of children who are languishing in Florida’s foster care system by denying them a permanent home,” the group said.
