Fairness Campaign 2014 Pride ParadeFairness Campaign Marches for “Black Lives Matter” & “Freedom to Marry”

(Louisville, KY) More than 250 volunteers are expected to march in the Fairness Campaign’s “Human Balloon Float” as part of the 15th annual Kentuckiana Pride Parade Friday, June 19, 7 p.m. from Main and Floyd Streets in Downtown Louisville to the Belvedere at 5th and Main Streets, 40202.

The Fairness Campaign will march under the banner “Black Lives Matter” and “Freedom to Marry,” highlighting our hope for an affirming decision on marriage from the Supreme Court and LGBT support and inclusion in the nationwide movement for racial justice.

Thousands are expected to march in and watch the full parade, which serves as the kick-off to the two-day Kentuckiana Pride Festival on the Belvedere hosted by the Kentuckiana Pride Foundation. The parade’s grand marshal is Shane Bitney Crone, LGBT rights activist and producer of the award-winning documentary Bridegroom, and honorary grand marshals include plaintiffs and lawyer’s in Kentucky’s same-gender marriage lawsuit, Bourke v. Beshear, currently before the Supreme Court in Obergefell v. Hodges.
