Judge throws out murder case against gay-for-pay porn star Josh Logan

The murder case against a gay porn star has been thrown out.

In 2013 John ‘Champ’ Snavely, porn name Josh Logan, was arrested and accused of brutally murdering marketing executive Sam Del Brocco.

Now a Broward County judge has thrown out the case against the stripper and gay for pay-porn actor, according to the Washington Post.

Three years earlier, police officers had found Del Brocco in his Pompano Beach townhouse.

He was found in his bedroom, after being stabbed 12 times in the chest.

Del Brocco’s murderer had also left a trail of bloody footprints throughout the house and hidden the murder weapon, a kitchen knife, under a rug.

The case revealed the marketing executive’s ‘secret life’ involving gay bars an strippers, which his friends in Washington DC said they were ‘fully unaware of’.

Broward County sheriff’s detectives recovered the murder weapon from the scene, as well as fingerprints and, from a half-smoked joint as well as hair on the knife, DNA.

But until they found Snavely, there were no suspects.

The porn star’s fingerprints were found on the outside of Del Brocco’s car, and a Coke can carrying his DNA was found in the apartment’s trash.

When he was arrested, Snavely denied knowing Del Brocco, but in a second interview admitted to being in the apartment with the murdered man.

He said they had peacefully parted ways, and he was not involved with the murder.

Snavely has been held in prison awaiting trial ever since.

On Thursday (16 February), Broward County judge Ilona M. Holmes threw out the case against the porn star.

H. Dohn Williams, Snavely’s defense lawyer, filed a motion to dismiss the case which was already heard in December.

He argued neither the DNA from hair on the knife nor from the half-smoked joint was Snavely’s.

According to Williams, the foot prints also didn’t match those of the defendant and while Snavely’s fingerprints were found outside Del Brocco’s car, the prints and DNA inside the car came from someone else.

He also said Del Brocco’s cell phone movements indicate he went to Fort Lauderdale after Snavely left; the lawyer suggested Del Brocco may have picked up a second man.

Holmes threw out the court after Broward prosecutors did not file a written response to Williams’ motion.

She said there was ‘not enough’ evidence for a murder charge.

‘There are no eyewitnesses to the crime, the murder weapon was recovered with someone else’s hair and DNA on it,’ she said.

‘Shoe prints with victim’s blood were never matched to this defendant. Defendant has never confessed to committing this crime and no one has come forward attesting to any suspicious activity on Defendant’s part.’

Prosecutors now have 15 days to appeal, while Snavely remains in the Broward County jail.
