Caitlyn Jenner has indicated that she’s contemplating a political career.

The former Olympian, reality TV star and transgender advocate is in the UK today and promoting her best-selling memoir, The Secrets of My Life

This morning she appeared on the BBC1’s Victoria Derbyshire program.

Jenner has talked previously about her support for the Republican Party. Asked whether she still backed Trump in light of the fact that he had removed protections for transgender students in using the school restrooms of their choice, she said, ‘It doesn’t make me regret my vote yet, but it is very disappointing and I have been very verbal about that.

‘I thought Trump would be better on these issues.’

She went on to say she ‘will have more conversation’ with Trump over LGBTI rights, but refused to be drawn on how direct her contact with the Trump administration is.

She said the Donald Trump that she had experienced of was gay friendly and employed many gay people in his business dealings, but suggested he is being ‘influenced by people around him.’

Asked directly if she would enter politics, she said, ‘I do a lot of political stuff, but it is mostly all behind the scenes.

‘I have been asked that question quite a bit, to be honest with you – over the next year I’m looking into it.

‘I want to know where can I do a better job for my community, in bringing the Republican Party around when it comes to all LGBT issues.
