The first animated series to feature a gay superhero lead will feature him going up against Nazis

We now know more about the first animated series to feature a gay superhero lead following an announcement by the CW at Comic Con.

Joining hit series like Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl, the network has given us the first look at Freedom Fighters: The Ray.

The trailer has revealed Raymond ‘Ray’ Terrill will be part of superhero team Freedom Fighters in a world where the Nazis won World War 2 and have taken over America.

Ray is a reporter who discovered a group of government scientists working on a secret project to turn light into a weapon of mass destruction.

But before he could report on the findings, the project head exposed Ray to a ‘genetic light bomb’ that was intended to kill him but instead gifted him with light-based powers. He then joined the Freedom Fighters to fight violence and oppression.
