Andy Cohen replaces Kathy Griffin at Anderson Cooper’s side on New Year’s Eve

New Year’s Eve will be a little bit gayer this year as Andy Cohen will join Anderson Cooper in co-hosting CNN’s New Year’s Eve celebration.

Cohen, best known as the host of Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live, will join Cooper in Times Square in New York City to cover the festivities leading up to the ball drop as 2018 officially arrives.

‘Andy is the life of the party wherever he goes, and what bigger party is there than New Year’s Eve? It is going to be a blast!’ Cooper said in the announcement of the pairing.

Meanwhile, Cohen said, ‘I’ve been friends with Anderson for twenty-five years. We’ve traveled the world together and performed in 30 plus cities with “AC2″ and it’s all led to this one huge night!’

The news is out! I’m co-hosting New Year’s Eve on CNN with @andersoncooper and I could not be more excited!

Cohen will replace comedian Kathy Griffin at Cooper’s side. Griffin and Cooper had co-hosted CNN’s New Year’s Eve coverage since 2007.

In May, CNN fired Griffin after she appeared in a photo holding a fake, bloodied severed head meant to resemble President Donald Trump.
