If ‘love is love,’ why can’t Roy Moore date teenagers?

The religious right has fallen all over themselves to defend accused child molester and Republican senate candidate Roy Moore, but this one may take the (not-a-gay-wedding) cake.

A state auditor compared Moore to the biblical Mary and Joseph. Crowds of ministers have stood in front of cameras and blamed LGBT people for the controversy. The American Family Association even compared Moore to Christ.

“Remember that Jesus himself was accused, but he was completely innocent,” according to AFA official Sandy Rios.

But Media Research Center vice president Dan Gainor may have found a way to work the anti-LGBT rhetoric with Donald Trump‘s love of claiming media bias against conservatives into a perfect mashup of nonsense and flawed reasoning.

Appearing on Breitbart’s Sirius XM channel, he asked listeners to compare the media coverage of same-sex marriage to the controversy surrounding the multiple allegations of sexual abuse against Moore from women who were as young as 14.

“The left is the one — they’ve been saying ‘love is love’ for years, which means anything goes between — at least one hopes – consenting legal people. So that immediately means the Post larded up their story with allegations from people who were of legal age to undercut him to basically make it seem like the other case is more credible. Well, which is it?” Gainer asks the audience.

“Is it ‘love is love,’ in which case you’re not going to go around reporting anything that crazy liberals do, you won’t show us how bad the gay pride parade is in San Francisco, etc? Or are you really going to say anybody who dates somebody who’s 16, even if it’s legal, they’re a creep?”
