BYU threatens to arrest students who protest the Mormon school’s anti-LGBTQ policies

Almost one year after queer students lit up Brigham Young University’s iconic “Y” sign in rainbow colors to show support for LGBTQ equality, the notoriously anti-LGBTQ Mormon university in Provo, Utah has passed new rules that will prevent similar protests from ever happening again.

In fact, the school has threatened to discipline or arrest any students who protest against the school’s anti-LGBTQ teachings.

BYU quietly passed the rules in December 2021 while updating its demonstration policy. The new rules prohibit student protests on the hillside of Y Mountain, where the “Y” sign resides.
