Jamie Lee Curtis tearfully gives her Oscar they/them pronouns to support her trans daughter

Jamie Lee Curtis has decided to give her new Oscar—her first—they/them pronouns in honor of her trans daughter, Ruby.

The Everything Everywhere All at Once actor won the award for Best Supporting Actress at Sunday’s 95th Academy Awards for her role as IRS agent Deirdre Beaubeirdre—who also happens to be the lover of the film’s star, Evelyn Quan Wang (Michelle Yeoh), in an alternate reality.

On Tuesday, Curtis joined hosts Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie on NBC’s Today Show to discuss her win. The Halloween star became emotional watching her acceptance speech for the first time during the segment. She then pulled her Oscar statuette on camera saying, “Here they are!”

“Have you named her?” Guthrie joked.

“In support of my daughter Ruby, I’m having them be a they/them,” Curtis replied. “I’m gonna just call them…
