From Victory Fund Reports
Victory Fund Congressional candidate Tammy Baldwin [D] won the hotly contested four-way Democratic primary for Wisconsin's 2nd District seat yesterday with 37% of the vote (24,226 total
votes).
"Move over Mark McGwire!" says Victory Fund Executive Director Brian K. Bond, "Tammy Baldwin and Wisconsin's fair-minded voters just hit a Grand Slam!"
Baldwin will face the winner of the Republican Primary, former State Insurance Commissioner Jo Musser, in the November 3 general election. |

Victory Fund candidates went three for three last night, with Wisconsin's Mark Pocan [D] winning the Democratic primary for Tammy Baldwin's 78th District State Assembly seat, and Steve May [R] grabbing the top spot in the seven-way Republican primary for two seats in the Arizona State House. |
Because Pocan's district is highly Democratic and May's is overwhelmingly Republican, their chances for election on November 3 are extremely good. Madison's 2nd Congressional District also has a
slight Democratic advantage, but Bond remains cautiously optimistic.
"We're on the brink of making history," says Bond, "But never
underestimate the power of bigotry. There's no way of telling exactly how
antigay political extremists will respond to these victories, but one
thing's for sure: they will be raising enormous amounts of money and
mobilizing rightwing voters to defeat our candidates. |

"If fairminded
voters stay home on election night, we could lose everything we've worked
so hard to achieve."
