Who Wants to Be an Alter Boy Now?
There was a good TV special last night about all the many instances of child-abuse by priests in Massachusetts, under the quiet guardianship of Cardinal Law. Several people who KNEW what was going on tried to alert the Church, but the Church already KNEW, and basically told these people to shut up and fuck off .
Two of the priests, now in prison, each had HUNDREDS of rapes of young male children in his history. When trouble started in a particular parish, they would simply assign the priest to a new, distant parish, usually placing him again pointedly into programs where he worked almost exclusively with young boys -- Sports Activities, Altar Boys, etc. The Catholic Church in the greater Boston area has paid out untold sums of money in personal damage lawsuits initiated by men who were victims when boys. One middle-aged man was molested as a child, and it turns out, his learning-disabled son was subsequently damaged and raped by a priest, who guided the boy's hand in the sign of the cross, adding a final superfluous gesture which placed the child's hand on the priests dick. Ad nauseum. This is the same institution that refuses to allow priests to marry, to allow women equal rights within the church, and refuses to condone sex-education and the use of safe -sex among young people. I myself had several incidents in my childhood which were sexual in nature and involved priests . In my case these incidents were not traumatic or violent in nature, and I actually rather enjoyed them. I however was not a heterosexual boy, and they were not the first time I had a sexual experience with an adult. I was a lot tougher and a lot more informed than most kids my age, which is something both good and bad. To be honest, in retrospect, both of the priests I was involved with were definitely able to tell that I was interested in what they were interested in , and it was not a rape scenario in either case . Still and all, I was a child, and they shouldn't have. Really. One of the priests involved in the Boston area mass-child-rapes was at one time an open member of NAMBLA, which I think stands for The North American Man Boy Love Association . Unreal . Many millions of Catholics are thoroughly disillusioned and unhappy with the state of their church today . Perhaps some of the disclosures being made now will hasten a long-overdue restructuring of the archaic and vicious behemoth the Catholic Church has become.
