Voter Awareness

Ninety-two percent of the lesbian and gay community surveyed said they were registered to vote, and 52 percent said they vote in all elections. Thirty-four percent said they vote in most elections. Just over one-fifth said they were politically active. The (Gill) foundation also surveyed 2,000 people in the general population, but the only comparable figure offered in its results was voter registration, 91 percent.

Bush Body Count

Lars-Erik Nelson was a reporter for the New York Daily News and a constant critic of George Bush throughout the 2000 Presidential campaign. He wrote a series of articles on how Bush was trying to steal the Florida election. Found dead in his living room of an apparent stroke on November 21, 2000, the very day that Bush lawyers were making their arguments before the Florida Supreme Court.

Attorney Charles Ruff successfully defended President Bill Clinton against the smear campaign by the reich wing Bush machine. He died of an accident in his home. Details of the accident are unknown. Ruff had been assisting Vice President Al Gore's legal team during the recount proceedings in Florida, where a battle for the right to know the will of the people is raging.

CDC Reports: Infection Rates Rise Again

Indeed, HIV infections already are disturbingly high among young gay and bisexual men in Los Angeles and other major cities, according to research recently released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In Los Angeles and five other cities, one in 10 young gay or bisexual men is infected, according to the findings. Among African Americans, the figure is far higher: nearly three in 10.

U.S. Supreme Court Vs. Nude Black Female Christ?

Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani said yesterday that an exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum of Art that includes a color photograph of a nude black woman as Christ at the Last Supper was “disgusting,” “outrageous,” and “anti-Catholic.”…He added that he and his lawyers would be investigating “a way to get this dispute to a place where I think we could win it, which would be the Supreme Court of the United States.”
