21st Century Sex Education? A gay sex education project which encourages children as young as 14 to act out sadomasochistic roles in the classroom provoked a storm of criticism today. The project offers role-plays for students, including a married man cruising for gay sex, a transvestite cabaret artist, a bisexual granny, a sado-masochist and a wheelchair-bound lesbian. The package, entitled More Than A Phase, is aimed at 14 to 16-year-olds and was produced for Avon Health Authority at a cost of £9,000. Conservative health spokesman Dr Liam Fox criticised the project as a waste of public money. We'd been talking about this for a year and a half and we go back and forth. Right now, we don't. At that time, we did. Now, I don't know if I want to change my life that much. We're so spoiled. I like to walk out of the house and go to a movie without having to load up bottles and diapers. But I see a baby and I just want to cry. I think babies are the most. It touches me so much to see a new life that's so full of hope and innocence and purity. It's the closest thing to God there is. Speaking to Canberra psychiatrists this week, Kirby said recent church persecution of nuns and priests working with the gay and lesbian community was "profoundly hurtful and very saddening." "It appears difficult to defend objectively the intrinsic evil of the pain which organised religion has caused and continues to cause to homosexual people in all parts of the world. Alan Keyes—Republican Presidential candidate—Boston Globe, November 12 President Mugabe Suffered? But well, I know that the President actually suffered. It must have been a terrible shock to have this thing happen and I understand his reaction, but it would be unfortunate to suggest that the British government is actually involved in this kind of tactic to achieve a political objective. We want to have warm and friendly relations with Zimbabwe. Peter Longworth—British High Commissioner in Harare, Zimbabwe replying to President Mugabe's accusation that the British government was to blame when he was confronted by gays in London —Financial Gazette, November 11 President Mugabe's Accusations Robert Mugabe, president of Zimbabwe, who recently hit out at Tony Blair's "gangster regime", let fly again today, saying that the Labour Government was worse than the Tories. Mr. Mugabe claimed that under Mr. Blair's premiership Britain was no longer a pacemaker, the Government was less mature – and the Cabinet contained several gays. The outspoken - not to say extraordinary – outburst appeared to show that Mr. Mugabe is still smarting from his last visit to London, when his car was besieged and he was manhandled by protesters from the gay rights group, Outrage, led by Peter Tatchell. Mr. Mugabe went home complaining that Mr. Blair headed a gangster regime, adding: "They even used gangster gays on us." Charles Reiss—" Mugabe attacks New Labour Britain"-- London Evening Standard, November 12 All Same-Sex Love Affairs are Perfect There's a tangible taboo against examining any kind of problem in gay and lesbian relationships, out of the real fear that someone like Falwell will grab on to it as another reason gay and lesbian relationships aren't healthy.
