TV News-Crew Rendezvous with Cops

Davis, Calif.-- Police recently received an offer they figured they could not refuse when a television production company invited investigators to go along on a rendezvous between a suspected pedophile and a reporter posing as a 13-year-old girl.

That Elephant Emblem

The Republican Party should change their national emblem from an elephant to a prophylactic because it:
1. Halts production
2. Stands for Inflation
3. Protects a bunch of pricks
4. Gives a false sense of security when one is being screwed.

West Hollywood's Weenie Police

West Hollywood --Undercover police stings often conjure up images of late-night arrests in the silent shadows of dark alleyways. But it was midafternoon Sept. 21 when Brian Miller found himself in handcuffs at Pacific Design Center. The 43-year-old Echo Park decorator had run an errand at the center and was returning to his car when he ventured into a conversation with a stranger standing near the escalators. Although their banter touched on sex, Miller, who is openly gay, said he was not looking for a sexual encounter. But when he turned to leave, Miller found himself pushed against the railing, handcuffed and arrested on suspicion of lewd conduct, a misdemeanor. Miller thinks that what he later learned was an undercover sting operation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department was, in fact, entrapment.

George W. Bush: The President Quayle We Never Had

Bumper Sticker—December 15

Breaking News:
God Overrules Supreme Court

Bush to be smitten later today

In a stunning development this morning, God invoked the "one nation, under God" clause of the Pledge of Allegiance to overrule last night's Supreme Court decision that handed the White House to George Bush.

"I'm not sure where the Supreme Court gets off," God said this morning on a rare Today Show appearance, "but I'm sure as hell not going to lie back and let Bush get away with this bullshit."

"I've watched analysts argue for weeks now that the exact vote count in Florida 'will never be known.' Well, I'm God and I DO know exactly who voted for whom. Let's cut to the chase: Gore won Florida by exactly 20,219 votes."

Vaclav Havel on Ginsberg's Spontaneous Mind

aginsberg.jpg - 11.48 K I have always held the poet in great esteem. I truly appreciated his Howl when I was a young man, and I was, of course, deeply moved by what I felt to be his untimely death. I have also greatly appreciated his sophistication, his intellectual power, and his scope of vision.

Politics as Performance

The direct action campaigns of the queer rights group OutRage! are an example of a unique political genre - "protest as performance". Our juxtaposition of political themes and cultural forms borrows ideas from performance art to promote an explicit human rights message. This "art of activism" campaigning seeks to profile lesbian and gay emancipation in a way that is both educative and entertaining.

Big Apple Boy Scouts

scout.jpg - 4.21 K Local Boy Scouts councils yesterday rebelled against their national group's anti-gay policy, asking for a "timely review" of standards that wound up getting the Scouts booted out of Big Apple schools. "The Greater New York Council's Executive Committee has written this resolution to communicate to the [Boy Scouts of America] National Office the true inclusive nature of the youth development programs as they are administered here in New York," the local board said in a statement.
