Opens Los Angeles Office

Los Angeles, California-The opening of its new West Coast office in Los Angeles, California was announced yesterday by the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force (NGLTF). Marking a milestone in the organization's history, it is the first major office for the Task Force outside the East Coast.

NGLTF has worked since its founding in 1973 to eliminate prejudice, violence and injustice against gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered people at the local, state and national level.

At the official Open House, NGLTF executive director Lorri L. Jean said, "This office will enable the Task Force to be more accessible to our constituents and partner organizations in the Western United States."

The office will be the home base for several members of the NGLTF executive team and development staff, including Jean, deputy executive director Darrel Cummings, and development director Charles Robbins.

The office has room for eight staff members and is located in the Miracle Mile business district in Los Angeles, adjacent to the space occupied by the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD).

NGLTF expressed its gratitude to the Wells Fargo Foundation, which provided a grant of $90,000 to cover the expenses of establishing the office, including the information systems infrastructure. Also, NGLTF thanked GLAAD for its assistance in helping the Task Force get established in Los Angeles.
