Catholic Bishop Apologizes for Financial/Sexual Misconduct

Compiled By GayToday

priest.jpg - 12.29 K Santa Rosa Diocese, California--Bishop G. Patrick Ziemann, who was forced to resign in July after tainting the Roman Catholic Church with a major scandal which rocked the diocese of Santa Rosa, California, has, for the first time apologized for what he then called “consensual” behavior with another priest and his “mismanagement” of 16 million dollars.

The priest, who brought his accusations against the Bishop into court, said that the affair between the two clerics had not, in fact, been consensual, but that he'd been “coerced.”

In his letter of apology released throughout the diocese during Sunday Masses, Bishop Ziemann, 62, told his former constituents: "

``I acknowledge with deep regret my responsibility for the current state of affairs about which you are justly angry.''

The Vatican has announced the appointment of Bishop Daniel F. Walsh, who had presided over the diocese of Los Vegas, to take Bishop Ziemann's place.
