London, England--The London Gay Men's Chorus, Britain's premier gay choir, announced its major concert for Summer 2000: West End Boys, on Sunday June 18th, 2000, at the Piccadilly Theatre, in London's West End. Presented by London Mardi Gras, as part of the Mardi Gras Arts Festival, West End Boys will be “the usual mixture” say Chorus members, of music, dance, pathos and laughter. The program, reportedly, will vary from classical and jazz to show tunes, pop songs and downright camp. A fan raved: “they go far beyond a mere concert, and really put on a show that has to be seen to be believed!” Concert-goers will see the world premier of Citizen Vain by contemporary composer Morgan Hayes, the very first musical score commissioned by and for the chorus, with lyrics by one of the choir's own members. It is meant to reflect the experience of a gay man at the beginning of the 21st Century.
