There was music, ballet, food, commercial and organizational booths, a tango show, a dance contest and a performance by Two Seated Queens Talking Shit.

The event, produced by the Colombian Gay and Lesbian Community Agenda Project and staged outside Club Gay Franquicia, raised funds for the June 25 pride parade.
Israeli Gay Group Opens Central Office

Agudah, the Association of Gay Men, Lesbians, Bisexuals and Transgender People in Israel, is opening a new community center in the heart of Tel Aviv's Nachalat Binyamin pedestrian mall.

The group said the thousands of people who frequent the popular arts and crafts street each day will see a three-story building decorated with rainbow flags.

The mall is also the epicenter of the city's evolving gay scene, Agudah said.

cbanana.gif - 11.17 K Canaan Banana Former Zimbabwean President Canaan Banana was jailed for one year May 29 for sexual assault of male staff members in the 1980s.

He had been convicted of sodomy, abuse of power and unnatural acts in 1999 but remained free pending a Supreme Court appeal which he lost May 29.

Among those Banana intimidated into having sex were his bodyguard, cook and gardener.

The incidents came to light starting in 1995 when the bodyguard, Jefta Dube, shot to death a colleague who had taunted him by calling him "Banana's wife."
