Gateway is the Latest
to Drop 'Dr.' Laura Advertising

Compiled by GayToday

Washington, D.C.--Computer giant Gateway has confirmed to StopDrLaura.com that it is the latest company to pull its advertising from Laura Schlessinger's radio show because of her "discriminatory" content.

In an email message received by StopDrLaura.com, Gateway's Director of Consumer Communications, Brad Williams, wrote that: "For some time Gateway has followed a policy of not advertising in media whose editorial content is discriminatory. Gateway advertising runs in a variety of national and local media throughout the year -- and in this case, a media buy was made that was clearly inconsistent with that policy." William's has confirmed the statement as genuine.

Williams continues: "We have discontinued advertising on this program, and are reviewing our procedures for ensuring that our advertising policies are strictly adhered to by our advertising and media agencies."

Gateway, a $8.6 billion, Fortune 250 company that employs 20,000 people around the world, is the latest in a flood of advertisers to leave Schlessinger's radio show, little more than one month before her new Paramount-syndicated television show is set to launch. Procter & Gamble, the only known advertiser for Schlessinger's upcoming TV show, reversed itself and dropped the show several months ago, saying that "there are lots of programming options and we've decided there are better ones for us."
