Washington, D.C.--Computer giant Gateway has confirmed to StopDrLaura.com that it is the latest company to pull its advertising from Laura Schlessinger's radio show because of her "discriminatory" content. In an email message received by StopDrLaura.com, Gateway's Director of Consumer Communications, Brad Williams, wrote that: "For some time Gateway has followed a policy of not advertising in media whose editorial content is discriminatory. Gateway advertising runs in a variety of national and local media throughout the year -- and in this case, a media buy was made that was clearly inconsistent with that policy." William's has confirmed the statement as genuine.
StopDrLaura.com/Texas also revealed this week that Kroger's stores in Texas have also dropped their "Dr. Laura" radio advertising, in response to complaints. In addition, this past week, EchoStar/DISH, Sears, and the Ohio State Lottery have all dropped their "Dr. Laura" advertising. Geico, SkyTel, Kraft, American Express, United Airlines, ToysRUs.com, Xerox, AT&T, TCF Bank, Amica Insurance, and BoxLot.com have also cut their ties to Schlessinger's show since StopDrLaura.com was launched on March 1. Since StopDrLaura.com's launch, it has received over 35 million hits, and helped organize protests in 22 cities across America. |
