Washington, D.C.--For the first time in a major national poll, Libertarian presidential
candidate Harry Browne has pulled ahead of Reform candidate Pat Buchanan,
the Libertarian Party announced jubilantly.
"Stick a fork in him -- Pat Buchanan is done," said Steve Dasbach, Libertarian
Party National Director. "The only news coverage Buchanan should get now is in the
political obituary section." |
According to a September 5 Rasmussen poll of 2,250 likely
voters, support for Browne has risen to 1.0 percent -- while support
for Buchanan fell to 0.9 percent.
Pat Buchanan, who runs on an anti-choice, anti-gay platform, has crusaded as an
arch-homophobe for decades. A Roman Catholic pundit, he represents the far right.
The Libertarian Party is gay-inclusive and favors the development a society in which self-control
and a host of resulting personal freedoms predominate over moralistic controls by states and by
national governments.
"Pat Buchanan is spiraling down in the polls and sitting around waiting for his welfare
check--in the form of federal campaign money from taxpayers--to
arrive," said Dasbach
