By the Human Rights Campaign
We need all HRC Action Network members to send a fax through the Online Action Center (at no cost to you) urging their Representative to support both the Hate Crimes Prevention Act (HCPA) and the "Motion to Instruct" the House to retain the Senate-passed Kennedy-Smith hate crimes language in the Department of Defense (DoD) Authorization bill. As you know, on June 20, 2000, a revised Hate Crimes Prevention Act (H.R. 1082/S.622), renamed the Local Law Enforcement Enhancement Act of 2000, passed the U.S. Senate as an amendment to the Department of Defense (DoD) Authorization bill (HR 4205/S 2549).
