to Oppose Hate Crime Law |
Compiled by GayToday
Falwell said: “ I have just learned that members of the House of Representatives are set to vote late today (Sept. 12) on a motion sponsored by gay-activist Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass. that would support hate-crimes legislation pushed through in the Senate by Sen. Ted. Kennedy, D-Mass. “Pro-family groups are urging their supporters to contact their representatives IMMEDIATELY -- within the next hour if possible -- to ask them to vote AGAINST the Frank motion.” Falwell's primary fear is that the Hate Crimes bill approved Wednesday will pave the way to job security for gay men and lesbians, which he dismissively calls “pro-homosexual legislation.” He wrote:
“Pastors need to understand that hate crimes laws are aimed directly at throttling the Biblical view on homosexuality.”
