Edinburgh, Scotland—Reports surfaced here December 21 detailing the stepped-up
hunt for a man suspected of having killed, among others, a teenager whose dismembered
limb was discovered December 18, approximately 50 miles from his severed head.
Barry Wallace, 18, of Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, had been missing since December 5 and his
final unaccounted-for part, his dismembered leg, was found in the water at
Balmaha, Loch Lomond. His head had been discovered four days earlier by a woman walking
her dog on Barassie beach, near Troon, Ayrshire.

William Ian Fredrick Beggs who is wanted for
the the murder-dismemberment of an 18-year old male |
Police forces throughout the United Kingdom have been asked to
take part in the search for Wallace's killer, allegedly William Ian Fredrick
Beggs, 36, who is apparently on the run.
Detective John Geates, leading the inquiry, had initially said he didn't honestly know
if police were hunting for a serial murderer, although Beggs had been suspected of a
previous killing and was known to have carried razor blades used in altercations.
The police did not rush to immediate conclusions. "I have absolutely nothing that tells me that this was a homosexual attack," said Detective Geates. After only a few days, however, evidence began to mount that
Beggs has had a penchant for naïve young men, and had had homosexual relationships with
some who, when the search for him became public knowledge, came forward to tell what they knew of him.
The Daily Record & Sunday Mail newspaper reported Monday that "Beggs Always Hated Himself
After Gay Sex," and that he'd picked up young men in sports centers and discos. One young man told how
in 1990, when he'd been 19, he'd been seduced by Beggs in a suana.

"I think he hated the fact he was gay and resented the people he slept with," he said.
The young man, identified by the media only as "Hugh" related how prior to sex Beggs
had been quite "charming" but that afterwards, he'd turned exceedingly cold and had seemed to
blame the youth for having inflamed those passions of which he himself did not approve.
"He was very off with me after sex as if it was my fault," Hugh explained.
An international alert for Beggs has taken place, with police searching for him in
Amsterdam and Paris. Police have also informed Interpol and have released a
photograph of the wanted man who is said to know a good deal about computers
and to be of above average intelligence.
