Jamaicans have 48 hours to stop ‘stone the gays’ preacher

Jamaicans have 48 hours to stop US preacher Steven Anderson from visiting their schools.

Anderson celebrated the murder of 49 people at Pulse nightclub in Florida in 2016, saying the victims were ‘pedophiles’.

Disciples from his Faithful World Baptist Church in Tempe Arizona, US, have already been touring Jamaica, setting up speaking engagements for him.

And they have reported schools in Jamaica, which still punishes homosexuality with prison, have been particularly receptive.

Now LGBTI Jamaicans have told Gay Star News he could land on the island as early as Sunday (28 January). They expect him to spend a week there.

Thousands demand Anderson is banned

Meanwhile Jamaican lawyer Maurice Tomlinson said their pleas to the government to stop Anderson have fallen on deaf ears.

Tomlinson said: ‘Anderson has actively called for the stoning of gays, the subjugation of women and denied the Holocaust ever happened.

‘Some of his followers have acted on Anderson’s dangerous hate speech. And Anderson has been banned or deported from Botswana, Malawi, South Africa, the UK and Canada. He now plans to bring his deadly message to Jamaican schools and other venues.

‘Our activist, Jay John [not his real name] launched a petition asking the Jamaican government ban Anderson from entering the country.

‘The petition has garnered over 36,500 signatures and Jay delivered it to the Office of the Prime Minister on Tuesday (23 January). However, he has had no response.’

Steven Anderson glad to see Pulse ‘perverts’ die

Anderson, aged 36, has often spoken out against LGBTI people and women.

In particular, he made a video welcoming the deaths in the Pulse shooting in Orlando, Florida.

He said: ‘The good news is there is 50 less pedophiles in this world. Because these homosexuals are a bunch of disgusting perverts and pedophiles. That’s who was a victim here.’

He also wants ‘righteous governments’ to stone gay and bi people to death.

Anderson said: ‘Here’s what the Bible says: “If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them.”

‘And that, my friend, is the cure for AIDS. It was right there in the Bible all along.’

Anderson has also attacked society for embracing ‘gender bending’. And he expressed his hate for transgender people, saying he hopes Caitlyn Jenner’s heart explodes.

He argues women should stay in the home and not work, vote or wear pants. He claims the Bible says women should be ‘obedient’ to their husbands.

In 2009, he prayed for the death of President Barack Obama. And he has condemned modern medicine, calling doctors sorcerers.

Last ditch appeal to Jamaican government

Now Jamaican LGBTI campaigners are making a final bid to stop Anderson.

They have drafted a letter to the government explaining how he poses a danger to Jewish Jamaicans, women and LGBTIs.

The letter tells concludes:

‘Steven Anderson poses a profound threat to vulnerable citizens, the rule of law, constitutional order and Jamaica’s societal peace.

‘Anderson preaches violence, and has encouraged his followers to carry out his violent threats.

‘In light of the current murder crisis plaguing Jamaica, with more than 100 murders reported in the first 22 days of 2018, the government would violate its constitutional duty to protect the rights and freedoms of Jamaicans if Anderson were allowed to enter the country.’
